Day 1x: Finally here!

Hello All! Greetings from jolly old England! Andaiye and I are finally here, and we just stopped moving about 5 minutes ago. We were travelling and moving for about 18 hours straight…crazy huh?! Well here’s a play by play of the beginnings of my adventures…

So, wait, let’s take this back to my going away party. I felt SO LOVED. Thank you to all those that came out to celebrate and say goodbye, and to those who couldn’t make it but still offered their words of prayer and encouragement. It was such a tearjerking, heartfelt night. I couldn’t believe it. Even people who live in other states, some of my college bestests, and my Sandz, came out to see me off. I’m part of so many families and each had their memories of me and shed a tear. It was bananas. I held on though. I had a few lonely teardrops, but overall, I did pretty good. There are still some moments that needed to be had (you know who you are) but I definately got closure and dealt with one of the most important. And oh was it hard. But overall I was happy because one of my dreams came true. (you know who you are, thank you). I love all y’all man, and that night was exactly what I wanted, all the way up to playing Taboo ’til 4 in the morning. THANK YOU ALL!

 Me & Andaiye

So anyway, on to the trip… After a tearful departure from my Mom, Sisters, and niece, Andaiye and I embarked on our adventure. Just to put it all in perspective, to get to Exeter, where I am now (outside of London), we took a plane, a train, a plane, a bus, a train, a train, a train, our feet then arrived at our flat. The first plane was cool. After stripping and going through heavy security, and I ain’t even mad at ‘em, we got on the plane to Chicago (which still doesn’t make any sense to me because we flew past Detroit to get to England, so why couldn’t we just fly out of Detroit? whatever). This ride was cool, only 45 minutes, what did I do? sleep. Then we had to take a tram from our terminal to the international terminal, where we praised our junk in the trunk, don’t ask. Then we got on our 7 our flight to the UK, and it was nice! TV screens in every seat, nice leg room, cushy seats with these head pillow things that discouraged you from laying your head on your neighbor, HA!, and this was Coach! Full with invidual movie and tv watching, what did I do? You guessed, it, sleep. After landing on sunny ol’ England, NOT (cold and rainy, with what the pilot referred to as diabolical raindrops), we got off the plane, onto a bus that took us to customs. Ok…now when we walked up to this line, I thought I was at Cedar Pointe waiting to get on the Maverick, because the line was stupid long and confusing, and quite Maze-like while customs agents were stamping passports (which sounding like they were dropping beats like Timbaland.) So, after getting through we had to hop on not 1, not 2, but 3 trains to get to central Exeter (because our second train, stopped working…what?!) Oh, and did I mention that the international flight LOST a piece of Andaiye’s luggage. Oh what fun!

So, we just got out at Exeter central, and simultaneously say, Now what? All we had was an address. So we proceed to get directions to our street to explore. Then we walk throught THE hilliest land of all. My gluts are going to be AMAZING just from walking around here, hahaha.

The FlatSo we get to the flat, put our lives (aka our luggage) down in the room, when the welcome wagon informs us that England closes at 5:30…nooo really. So, it’s 4 o’ clock and there are no sheets on the bed, so we run out of the building, back uphill to find the store to get all the neccesities. After that lovely excursion, we return to the loft to meet the housemates, a french gentleman and a british male model, and a greek girl on the way. This shall be interesting.
