Last Night

Last night, I wanted to go out and dance. I haven’t had a chance to really cut a rug like I want to. So after coming back from the library, I find Andaiye watching old Heroes episodes with the british model/footballer in his room. She can’t go out because she has a full day of orientation starting at 9am tomorrow. So, it looks like I’m on my own. I get changed, spray the smell goods, and head on out. The streets are full with people already getting their party and drink on. I love this little town. I’m just walking around looking at the different bars and places open. Then I pass a little side nook that looks like Diagon Alley from Harry Potter, and it’s club haven. I pass people in ignorantly big sombreros going to some club, the punk rockers going into a club called The Cavern, some freshers (their word for freshman) in these schoolboy & girl outfits going to a party, to find (leave it up to me) one of the only clubs open until 3am. Sweet! It’s only 2 pounds to get in, so why not. I pay the cover and head down the stairs. It’s a really random crowd though. Mixed with older and young people and an “intimate”, in other words, small, dance floor. It was cool though, I decided to stick around. And I’m glad I did. This little white british DJ was killin’ it on the 1’s & 2’s. He was mixin’ his a** off! Once I started dancing, I was dancing all night. He even played some house mix that was shoutin’ out Detroit all through it. RANDOM! I was TOO hype, and I know everybody was wondering why. It’s funny, you would think I was drunk…and I’m sure many people did. Because there were some people in there SPLIT! Dancing all over the place, hell, all over the beat, clothes fallin’ off of them…hot mess. Not only was I the only sober one, but the only drop of color in that piece, and the only one dancing on beat the whole time. Club dance in FULL EFFECT! They have really expanded my Club Dance repertoire, LOL. I couldn’t hate though, cuz it was people in there genuinely getting it! Can’t even knock ‘em. People must have thought I was gone, because I got offered all kinds of toxins…alcohol, that “ooh-wee”, poppers, and (what i think was) X. It was crazy. I’m like, back up, I’m chillin’. Some of them looked at me like I was an alien because I wasn’t popped up on anything. I just kept getting my groove on, not paying any attention to anybody else. They were playing a lot of U.S. stuff too, so I was just singing and tearin’ it up.

At the end of the night, you know I shut the club down, at 3, I went over to the DJ and had to give him his props and told him I would be back if he was spinnin’. Everybody else in there was too high to truly appreciate his mix. And he took requests. I appreciate DJ’s who do that. Serve the people. But it does have it cons. Now, I actually do like Britney’s new song, but dammit if he played it one more time, I was gonna have to shoot up the DJ booth. But it was cool, I had a real good time. So, I headed home. I love being sober, because you get to see, and laugh at, all the drunk and high people. That is true comedy. And oh did I have a barrel of laughs on the way home. People stumbling every which-a-way, saying random stuff to me, happy drunks, surly drunks, single drunks, group drunks…all together, funny drunks.
